End users remain completely unaware of the background encryption/decryption processes, yet their data is completely unreadable (and therefore meaningless) when stored on Google's servers. Encrypted Email Storage
VPS encrypts each email subject and message body before it is delivered to Google's servers for delivery and storage. VPS works with Gmail in conjunction with a mail transfer agent (MTA) to handle the realtime encryption-decryption operations related to outbound and inbound emails.
Full Google Apps Functionality is Retained
Complete Gmail and Google Calendar functionality is retained even while all the data is stored encrypted. So, for example, searching through emails or appointments remains available despite the encrypted state of the information. This is accomplished without any modification to the Google applications.
